New Citroen C5 Aircross – Exterior Design

The next generation of the C5 Aircross is built on the same Stellantis platform as the Peugeot e-3008 or the Opel Grandland. The dimensions of the new C5 Aircross will grow slightly, so that the new generation has grown a whole 15 cm with a length of 4.65 meters. Clearly visible at the front are the new three-point lights, which are shared by all newer Citroen models. The lines emphasise the width of the SUV and give the design a little more dynamism.

In the profile view, the full-length design lines come into their own and, with the slightly flattened roofline, spread a touch of sportiness and improve aerodynamics. At the rear, the three-point lights are again found and, together with the black design elements, they form a connection to the front design.

The most striking element is the "wings" of the rear lights on Citroen C5 Aircross. As protruding elements, they not only make the C5 Aircross easily recognizable, but are also said to be helpful in reducing drag. The growth in dimensions is also noticeable in the 60 cm longer wheelbase (2,784 mm), so that passengers in the rear in particular benefit from more legroom.

For the first time at Citroen, there is now also the option for 20-inch rims, which give the SUV more character.

New Citroen C5 Aircross – Drive and Engines

The new C5 Aircross comes with three drive variants: mild hybrid, plug-in hybrid and electric car. The performance of the engines is known from Stellantis' sister brands Opel and Peugeot. For example, the entry point in the new Citroen is the well-known 136 hp 1.2-liter mild hybrid turbo engine with three cylinders. The plug-in hybrid will come with more powerful power, as it combines a 150 hp turbocharged four-cylinder with 1.6 liters of displacement and an electric motor with 125 hp. This gives it a system output of 195 hp. The 21 kWh battery is said to be enough for 100 km of electric range.

For the e-car variants, Citroen offers 2 engines and battery sizes. The smaller variant starts at 210 hp and 73 kWh. The electric range here is just under 519 km. The top variant has 230 hp with a 97 kWh battery for a range of up to 670 km. In terms of charging power, the charging process from 20 to 80% takes 30 minutes on the fast charger for the 210 hp variant, while the 230 hp variant takes only 27 minutes.

For slow charging, there will initially be 11 kW on-board chargers, before 22 kW can also be ordered from 2026 for an extra charge.

New Citroen C5 Aircross – Interior and infotainment

When it comes to the interior, the French company has focused on creating a comfortable environment for the passengers. Travelers should feel at home in the living room and the design elements in the interior reflect this with pleasant ambient lighting and soft surfaces on the dashboard.

Especially for the front seats, there is now the option for seat heating, seat ventilation and also massage to offer maximum comfort. For the rear seats, there is "only" the seat heating and an adjustable backrest. On the other hand, passengers at the front and rear benefit from the improved suspension, which is supposed to compensate even better for bumps in the road. The increased dimensions of the new Citroen C5 Aircross generation benefit the rear legroom in the interior. But there is also enough space for luggage in the trunk, which holds 651 liters and can be expanded if necessary.
